SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A couple of fun fund-raisers will lead to nutritious meals for women who really need them: new and expectant mothers.
Make an Impact Thursday donated $29,400 to Central Counties Health Centers via Central Illinois Foodbank. The money will go “quite a ways,” said the health center’s director of community engagement, Donna Reeves (pictured, third from left). “The foodbank knows how to stretch those pennies.”
Randy O’Brien (pictured, far right), president of the Make an Impact board, describes how the group raised the money. One is a golf outing. “We play our own ball – it is a golfers’ golf tournament,” said O’Brien. “And then we also do an event called Night of Nashville, where we bring in singer-songwriters from Nashville. For those of you that are familiar with the Bluebird Cafe, we set them up so that they can talk about their songs, talk about who they wrote for, and many of them are extremely talented.”
