The Springfield City Council held their meeting a night early due to Christmas Eve being on a Tuesday night. It was also a fairly short meeting, even with a short executive session.
Outgoing Springfield Office of Planning and Economic Development Direct Val Yazell said her farewells, joking that someone has challenged her to say she changed her mind about retirement New Years Eve, but she quipped that she could not even utter those words and said it has been a pleasure to serve the community.
Later in the meeting, incoming Director Amy Rasing introduced herself to the Council, highlighting her grant management experience. An ordinance approving her appointment to the post was sent to debate.
A couple of other items on the agenda: discussion of the dismantling of the Dallman and Lakeside power plants and tree removal around the City’s power lines.
