Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Clinic is laying off an unknown number of its workers and points to “financial challenges” a the reason behind the move. Chief Brand and Advocacy Officer Zack Kerker said in a statement to our news partners at WAND TV, that the company has been impacted by rising operational costs, insurance reimbursement issues, and economic challenges.
“These decisions are not made lightly, and we stay deeply committed to providing high-quality health care while ensuring long-term sustainability for our patients, employees and the community we serve.”
The company would not disclose what positions were impacted, or at what locations.
Springfield Clinic has more than 3,000 employees across 90 locations in Illinois, according to its website. It’s a physician-owned, physician-led medical group.
