Springfielde, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – At Monday night’s District 186 School Board Meeting, Business Manager Steve Miller gave the board an update on the hearing July 3rd, regarding the proposed TIF District for the Village of Jerome.
Miller said District 186 recommended the TIF proposal not be passed as written. The School Board has 30 days to write another recommendation.
Superintendent Jennifer Gill says if a passed, Springfield schools stand to lose $4.43 million over the next 23 years. Board member Micha Miller has also said that with the impact the TIF would have on Springfield schools, it would be hard for him to support it, especially as the board gets ready to head to the negotiating table.
A final decision on that TIF proposal has yet to be made.
