Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A 22-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning after Springfield Police linked him to multiple burglaries and thefts. Officers were called to the 2600 block of Yale Avenue around 8:35 a.m. for a garage burglary and an attempted home break-in. Using video footage of the suspect provided by the victim, officers identified and located Darrion C. Walker, who was arrested nearby.
During the investigation, Springfield Police report Walker was identified in an earlier theft at the Country Inn and Suites on Stevenson Drive. Around 4:30 a.m., a man reportedly jumped the counter, stole an employee’s purse containing car keys, and fled with her vehicle. The stolen car was later involved in a hit-and-run accident.
Authorities also tied Walker to a failed burglary attempt at the Shangri La Dispensary on Dirksen Parkway at 12:30 a.m. and a vehicle burglary in the dispensary’s parking lot. Walker faces multiple charges, including burglary, motor vehicle theft, criminal damage, and possession of stolen property. He is being held in the Sangamon County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 5.
