Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Mayor Misty Buscher and Springfield Police Chief Ken Scarlette promoted three officers for their dedicated service and swore in seven new SPD officers on Wednesday. The ceremony was held in the Springfield City Council Chambers.

Sergeant Jeff Coker was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, while Officer John Dorsey and Detective Michael Mack were promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

Lieutenant Jeff Coker is a 24-year veteran of the Springfield Police Department. Over the years, he has worked in Field Operations, the Pro-Active Crime Unit and the K9 Unit. His time with the K9 Unit included partnering with police dog Kilo.

Sergeant John Dorsey has spent 22 years serving the Springfield community in various roles. His experience includes working as a Neighborhood Police Officer, a member of the Mobile Field Force Unit and a Field Training Officer. He also served as a Crime Stoppers Coordinator and, most recently, took on the responsibility of Springfield Academy Training Officer.

Sergeant Michael Mack brings 20 years of experience to his new role. His career has spanned assignments in Field Operations, the Emergency Response Team, and the Street Crimes Unit. He also worked as a Field Training Officer and most recently served as a Detective.

Seven new officers were officially sworn in during the ceremony. They completed their basic law enforcement training at the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center in December and are now assigned to the Springfield Police Academy for additional training. They will soon transition to the Field Operations Division, where they will participate in the field training program under the guidance of veteran officers.

Officer Dillion Brickey – A native of Murrayville and graduate of North Greene High School. He previously served as an E-5 Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Officer Ryan Griffin – A Springfield native and Springfield High School graduate. He earned an associate degree from Lincoln Land Community College.

Officer Dwayne Marshall – Originally from Chicago and a graduate of Carver Military Academy. He holds a master’s degree in public safety administration from Western Illinois University.

Officer Noah Maurer – A Chatham native and Glenwood High School graduate. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Illinois State University. He previously served as a Specialist in the U.S. Army Reserve and is an active member of the Air Guard.

Officer Davarrion Reynolds – A Chicago native and graduate of King College Prep. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Illinois State University.

Officer Adam Sprouse – A Springfield native and Lanphier High School graduate.

Officer Peyton West – A Springfield native and Springfield High School graduate. He attended Lincoln Land Community College and McKendree University.
