Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man died Saturday morning in Springfield, apparently from a stab wound, and a woman now faces charges.
Springfield Police say they were called around 4:45 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of North 4th Street, near 4th and Mason, for a report of a stabbing. A man located at the scene had life-threatening injuries consisted with a sharp-edged object.
The man was taken to a local hospital, police say, where he was pronounced dead. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says the victim is 48 years old, and the name will be released once next of kin have been notified.
Springfield Police say they arrested Natasha Blackwell, 44, more than five hours later. Blackwell is in the Sangamon County Jail facing charges of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery. Blackwell must still make an initial court appearance, and the filing of formal charges by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney.
