Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – There is no evidence to support claims of gang-related activity involving Venezuelan migrants in Springfield. That’s according to the Springfield Police Department, who put out an official press release Friday to address social media rumors.

The department said it made arrests in a retail theft incident and is working with other law enforcement partners on two ATM thefts in the city. However, there is no information indicating the incidents are related, according to the release.
