Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A 51-year-old woman has died following a stabbing incident early Saturday morning in the 3000 block of Shadowfax. Springfield Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 12:02 a.m. on June 29.

Officers found the woman with multiple stab wounds. She was immediately transported to Springfield Memorial Hospital but succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.

At the scene, officers also located the victim’s 16-year-old son. Following an investigation by Springfield Police detectives and the crime scene unit, the teenager was arrested. He faces charges of first-degree murder, aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery, and unlawful use of a weapon. The juvenile has been taken to a juvenile detention facility.
