Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Ald. Jennifer Notariano has a complaint about what she says is an eyesore.

“Really, the entire block there between MacArthur and Laurel and State and Campbell is largely owned by one corporation, and they have been doing work, oftentimes before obtaining a permit and demolished a couple of buildings on the property with and without silt fences and things to protect the sidewalk and the drainage,” she said Tuesday.

City public works director Dave Fuchs confirmed the owners have been cited for removing interior finishes without a permit.

This sparked a half-hour discussion about problem properties at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
