Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – We’re not getting a new state flag after all, if the Illinois General Assembly follows the direction of an online poll.
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias said Thursday that of nearly 385,000 votes cast for ten finalists for a new flag, 43 percent picked none of the above – and to retain the flag which some describe as the state seal on a bedsheet.
In fact, the current flag got more votes than the next five candidates combined.
