Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A whole lot of world-renowned percussion will be coming to the University of Illinois Springfield’s Performing Arts Center to start the new year.

According to a news release, the UIS PAC announced Friday that “STOMP” will perform Tuesday, January 5, 2027.  Tickets will go on sale next Friday, September 11, 2026 at the box office, online, and by calling (217) 206-6160.  Tickets will be available starting Tuesday, September 8, for “Broadway” subscribers.

“Created by Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, ‘STOMP‘ continues to tour North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia following 15 years in London’s West End and 29 years at New York’s Orpheum Theatre, and lengthy sit down productions in San Francisco, Boston and Las Vegas,” said a news release. “Throughout its life, the show has continued to change by creating new material to bring music to everyday objects. It is safe to say you will never again look at supermarket carts or plumbing fixtures the same way… or paint cans, or kitchen sinks or….”

The news release says ‘STOMP’ has received rave reviews from both critics and audiences for their brand of performance, and the performance “uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – dustbins, suitcases, radiator hoses, boots, hub caps – to fill the stage with a compelling and unique act that is often imitated but never duplicated.”
