Springfield, IlĀ (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Two men were transported to the hospital after a suspected natural gas explosion at a home in the 3300 block of East Enos in Springfield Tuesday morning. When first responders arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames. A 64-year-old man and a 71-year-old man sustained what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to Sangamon County Sheriff Jack Campbell.
Reports provided to deputies at the scene indicated the men were working on a hot water heater when the explosion occurred. Ameren responded to the scene due to the suspicion of natural gas contributing to the explosion.
