Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The list of things to do around Springfield includes the usual and the unusual.

“The (Illinois) Symphony Orchestra is going to do a ‘Sip and Sounds,’ and I think this is so fun, because it’s the Symphony Orchestra, and they’re at Motorheads,” said Amy Beadle of Visit Springfield, “and so to me, it’s like, you have to go see that because how fun is that? You wouldn’t think the orchestra would be at Motorheads, but they call it ‘Sip and Sounds,’ and it’ll be a great event there Aug. 26.”

Beadle told the WTAX Morning Newswatch the Springfield Mile is back at the fairgrounds Labor Day weekend on the fastest dirt mile.

And farmers’ market season is not over. The Illinois Products Farmers’ Market at the fairgrounds is open Thursdays through Sept. 24 (except Aug. 13, 20, and 27). The Moonlight Market at Obed and Isaac’s the first and third Wednesdays, and the Old Capitol Farmers’ Market continues Wednesdays and Saturdays through the end of October.
