Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Last Sunday afternoon the Springfield Police Department Street Crimes Unit observed, what they called, two suspicious boys walking in the middle of 11th Street.

Officers recognized one of the young men as being involved in disturbances, weapons violations, and shootings in the city.

As officers approached the pair, the kid officers were familiar with tried to run away but didnt get far. A loaded revolver was found in his sweatshirt.

The 16-year-old was arrested for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a firearm and ammunition, and resisting a police officer.

The arrested boy met the criteria for incarceration, but there was no available placement throughout the state.

He was placed on electronic monitoring and released to a parent.
