Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Ten new officers joined the ranks of the Springfield Police Department Tuesday. They were sworn in by Chief Ken Scarlette in the city council chambers with Mayor Misty Buscher and other government officials in attendance.
Nine of the officers graduated from the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center in April. One officer transferred from the Charleston, South Carolina Police Department, where he served for eight years.
The officers are currently assigned to the Springfield Police Academy, where they are receiving additional training. The new officers will be assigned to the Field Operations Division and will advance to the field training program and complete their training with veteran officers.
The following are the new SPD officers:
Officer Jack Clement – He is from Springfield and a graduate of Sacred Heart-Griffin High School. Officer Clement received his Bachelor Degree in Criminology at Kent State University.
Officer Isaiah Cooper – He is from Springfield and a graduate of Southeast High School.
Officer Aldrin Fennessy – He is from Homer Glen and a graduate of Lockport Township High School and received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Parkland College.
Officer Anthony Hall – He is from Springfield and a graduate of Springfield High School. Officer Hall served as a Specialist in the United States Army.
Officer Michael Lockwood – He is from Athens and a graduate of Athens High School.
Officer Kerry Nutt – He is from Springfield and a graduate of Lanier High School. Officer Nutt served as Airman First Class in the United States Air Force.
Officer Maxwell Puckett – He is from Fairfield, Illinois and a graduate of Fairfield Community High School. He received his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice/Business from Olney Central College.
Officer Carson Stouffe – He is from Springfield and a graduate of Springfield High School.
Officer Thomas Wise – He is from Pleasant Plains and a graduate from Pleasant Plains High School. Officer Wise is a graduate of Monmouth College and served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
Officer David Britten – He is from Highland Park, Illinois and a graduate of Highland Park High School. Officer Britten attended the Citadel and University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology; and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. Office Britten is a lateral hire with eight years of service and achieved the rank of Sergeant with the Charleston, South Carolina Police Department.
