Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Outlet Mentoring Program in partnership with the Springfield Police Department is announcing the Annual Bridging the Gap BBQ, taking place this Saturday from 11:00 AM to2:00 PM at Jaycee Park (2400 East Monroe). This year’s event is proudly sponsored by the Springfield Police Department, Aetna, Hyvee, Scheels, BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois, and Senator Doris Turner.
The Bridging the Gap BBQ is a FREE event and aims to foster a stronger, more trusting relationship between the community and local police and first responders. By bringing everyone together in a relaxed and fun environment, we hope to encourage open dialogue and mutual understanding.
This free event offers a variety of activities for all ages, including games, music, delicious food, a petting zoo, a Touch a Truck event, and interactive inflatables. It’s a wonderful opportunity for families to enjoy a day out while connecting with those who serve and protect our community.
