Theresa “Terri” L. (Nelson) McClure, 66, of Springfield, IL passed away May 20, 2024.
Terri was born in Trona, CA on November 26, 1957. Her family moved to Oregon when Terri was 13 and where she lived until moving to Springfield, IL, where she met her soulmate and the love of her life, Ronnie.
Terri is preceded in death by her father, John Shonkwiler; her mother, Carol Clarkson-Cornwell and her brother Billy Shonkwiler.
Terri is survived by her husband, Ronald McClure of Springfield; sister Karyn Kafferlin; brother-in-law, Jay Kafferlin; niece, Shawna Sargent; great nieces, Allisyn and Caitlyn Sargent and; great nephew, Daniel McCourt all of Woodland, Washington. Her godsons, Louis “Frankie” (Amber) McClure of Texas and David (Destinee) McClure of Springfield, IL; her god granddaughter, Kylie McClure of Springfield, IL; God grandson, Joshua McClure of Texas; several beloved friends. All will dearly miss her.
Terri also leaves behind her fur babies, Charlie, her dog that who was by her side until the end; Zeke, her outside junkyard cat; Sammy, her inside peaceful kitty and Crazy Gracie. Terri was very devoted to her fur babies and loved all animals. She was an avid animal rights activist.
Terri worked at K’s Merchandise, Barney’s Furniture and Ashley Home Store.
Terri was a very happy and loving person who was witty and could hold her own in a confrontational conversation. She recently discovered Broadway shows and fell in love instantly. Her proudest show was Tina Turner the Musical because they shared the same birthday. She was fortunate enough to see it right before her birthday last year.
Cremation services were provided. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Stockyard VFW from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
