Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – This Saturday is filled with events all around Springfield. One event brings together the high-flying action of pro wrestling and fundraising for St. Jude Childhood Cancer research hospitals!

Local wrestling promoter and Vice President of Wrestling for a Cure, Timothy Givens tells us how this idea came to be.

“I received a phone call one night from the president, Jason Wilhite. He says, man, I got an idea. 30 seconds into this phone call, he already had me hooked. His conversation with me was personal that led to the creation of Wrestling for a Cure. He said, well, this idea is, what if we were to go out there and put on fundraising events and then this huge wrestling show where we get everybody from all these companies to come together and work as one and we raise money for St. 
Jude. And we donate everything. 100%. 
Everyone’s volunteered, and it’s blossomed into the biggest garden ever around this area with everything we’ve done from season one all the way to this Saturday”

What can we expect this weekend? What’s the card looking like this weekend?

“Saturday is special in multiple ways. Not only is this our 10th season, hence the Season 10, Night of Champions, X Marks the Spot. Nine huge title matches.  You don’t ever see that unless it’s a pay-per-view on some streaming service. Season 10, 10 years in and we’ve already broke $100,000 that we’ve donated to St. Jude Childhood Cancer Research”

“If you’re in the Springfield area and you don’t have anything going on Saturday, I highly suggest showing up to the Illinois building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Saturday night, July 11th, 530 the doors will open.
