Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A dispute that started in the 2700 block of W. Lawrence Ave. ended with a 15-year-old male shot in the face. On Saturday around 11 p.m., Springfield Police responded to the 2500 block of Milford Dr. and found the teen with a gunshot wound to the face. He was transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital. According to SPD, his injury was deemed to be non-life threatening. The investigation determined the dispute that started on Lawrence Avenue later resumed on Milford Drive, where the shooting occurred.
Another 15-year-old was shot Sunday around 2:30 a.m. in the 300 block of S. State St. Police responded to a report of multiple shots fired into the back of a residence. The teen, who was in the kitchen area at the time of the shooting, was struck by one of the rounds. He was transported to Springfield Memorial Hosptial for a lower body wound which was deemed to be non-life threatening.
Investigations are ongoing, and police say at this time it is unknown if the two shooting incidents are related.
