Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department says two alleged repeat offenders have been arrested for a business burglary late Tuesday night.

The department says in a news release Jesse Myers, 35, Clearlake Village, and Richard Beiermann, 27, Springfield, were arrested on charges of Burglary. Detectives, they say, are seeking to have additional charges brought against the pair, for that burglary and three other similar cases currently under investigation.

Deputies first responded to Central Illinois Signs and Lighting in the 3000 block of Linden Avenue at 11:07 p.m. Tuesday. Myers and Beiermann were found hiding in the facility, and backpacks they had allegedly contained tools and copper wire, officials said. A broken window also was observed.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, Myers “has 17 prior arrests for robbery, burglary, theft, criminal damage, narcotics offenses, and traffic violations.”

Beiermann was arrested in September on multiple burglary and theft offenses, and was arrested again in November after allegedly missing a court date. He was released on electronic monitoring, but deputies say he allegedly removed the device prior to the burglary.

It’s not yet clear when Myers and Beiermann will be back in court, but remain in the Sangamon County Jail for now.

“When individuals repeatedly commit crimes and then violate the conditions meant to hold them accountable, it puts our community at risk,” Sheriff Paula Crouch said in a news release. “Those who demonstrate a pattern of criminal behavior and disregard for court orders need to be kept behind bars to protect the public.”
