Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Two people are wanted by the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department for Retail Theft that occurred two weeks ago, and the sheriff’s department says they were identified through use of the new department app.

According to a news release, the retail theft happened January 6 around 11:30 p.m. at the Road Ranger, 700 King Drive, New Berlin.  A male allegedly distracted the lone employee in the store, while the female suspect took around $800 worth of cigarettes.  Both then fled in a dark-colored SUV, travelling northbound.

The sheriff’s department says they used their new “The Sheriff’s App,” sending out a notification, and were able to identify the suspects within five minutes.

The suspects, however, still remain wanted.  They are identified as Christopher Rixner, 36, and Melissa Hubbard, 35, both of Springfield.  Arrest warrants have been obtained for both, and both are believed to have been trouble with the law before.

If you see either of them, you’re asked to call the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department at (217) 753-6666, or Sangamon and Menard County Crime Stoppers, at (217) 788-8427.
