Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – There’s a possibility you’re already reading this on our app.  Either way, I am happy to announce that our BRAND NEW CapitolCityNow app is available for download in your Apple iTunes and Google Play stores!

Why?  And, what’s new?

We heard you:  the previous app had too many sections, too many features, and not enough ease of operation, when all you want is quality content easily readable, and produced by the trusted, award-winning news team at WTAX.  The new app has a sliding “carousel” of the top stories of the day.  Below it, you’ll see all the news we’ve posted from the local, state, business, and sports sections, among others.

The app also has two new features:  the ability to “bookmark” stories you may want to read at a later time.  We also have a National Weather Service Lincoln radar loop that will be helpful when severe weather strikes.  Also, you will be able to have the app work in both dark and light modes.

It’s up to you, but by registering your e-mail address with us, you will be able to use the bookmark functionality.

As before, you may receive occasional push alerts of news stories, including anything breaking.

Live Streaming

If you used the CapitolCityNow app before to listen live to WTAX, unfortunately, that is not available in this new app.  However, you can download the separate WTAX App, also available in your app store.  it will load right to the access to listen live.  You can also listen to the WTAX live stream, as always, at the CapitolCityNow website.

Sponsors

I want to thank our two presenting sponsors for helping make the app possible:  Law Automotive, and Marx Fireplaces and Lighting.  They, and other trusted local business partners help make CapitolCityNow FREE to access.  No paywalls here, no paid subscriptions.  Just FREE local news.

And, finally…

While I and the WTAX News team are the people you hear on the radio every day, we also work hard behind the scenes to provide trusted news for Springfield and the surrounding areas, without bias, but with fact-based reporting.  I’m proud of the work we all do at Capitol Media Group.  The new CapitolCityNow App is the best showcase of all that work.
