Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The water from Springfield‘s city-owned utility passed with flying colors, according to a water quality report issued Monday.

A news release announcing the report says in 2025, CWLP’s drinking water “met all U.S. EPA and state of Illinois drinking water health standards, and no violation of a contaminant level or any other water quality standard occurred.”

Furthermore, said the release, the “Water Division operates a 24-hour laboratory where chemists and plant operators consistently and continually monitor water quality throughout the treatment process to ensure that finished drinking water meets or exceeds all regulatory standards.”

The report also includes information about the utility’s water source, Lake Springfield, what it contains, and how it measures up to standards.
