Springfield, Illinois (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A Wheeling man was arrested at White Oaks Mall Saturday after police took him into custody when he was there to meet with whom he believed was a 16-year-old girl he had been messaging on Snapchat.

Our news partners at WAND-TV report 43-year-old Brian Levanti was arrested after officers went to the mall for a patrol investigation.

Springfield Police were informed that someone posing as a minor was there to catch a predator.

Levanti is reported to have been messaging whom he believed was a 16-year-old girl since June 10th.

The man posing as the minor also gave police a binder with copies of the messages exchanged told officers Levanti was planning to meet in person, saying he wanted to buy a hotel room for the two of them for the weekend.
