(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – If the Chicago Sky or the Chicago Stars were to change their name to “The Red-Headed Stepchildren,” they wouldn’t be wrong.

An Illinois House committee heard stories of women’s pro sports facilities being scattered across metro areas and of the likes of WNBA superstar Candace Parker having to share her locker with members of the Y.

State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado (D-Chicago) is sponsoring a bill which would bring women’s professional teams in the state under the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, stressing her bill is not specifically to build a stadium.

The teams seeking a new stadium, the Bears and White Sox, “have so much equity that they could turn around and sell some of that equity in the team and be able to self-finance,” said Delgado. “What we are talking about here is very different, because these teams don’t have that kind of built in equity.”
