Gies’ contribution honors his late father, U.S. Army veteran Larry Gies Sr., and aims to preserve the legacy of military sacrifice.

“There are many people out there who may want to go get a four year (degree) but aren’t ready in their lives,” said Charlotte Warren, who is retiring after this school year.

In the lead-up to Acutis’ canonization on Sunday, it’s all Acutis, all the time at the Blessed Carlo Acutis Parish and school in Chicago.

The university says in a news release Janet Gooch will serve on the NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity, and Impact.

“The young people that we serve have experienced a lot; they have experienced loss, trauma, abuse, heartache, poverty, discrimination, and much more.  They’re also incredibly resilient and strong, intelligent and funny, and loving.  These kids are worth our investment — this investment.”

This comes less than a month after Pritzker signed a plan into law to ensure any student living in the state can be considered for financial aid options.

“It is critical that we continue to protect the University’s research mission and excellence while preserving academic freedom, integrity, and independence,” he said.

Board members: consider cutting schools and programs, and getting input from district employees.
