Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Social media took Springfield Public Schools to task over not cancelling class Monday because of single-digit temperatures and wind chills below zero for part of the day. But, the decision to close school is not as simple as that, and the fact it’s finals week was the least of the district’s worries.
