With not quite 4,000 customers still in the dark, CWLP says it is still on target to cut down to 3,500 outages by the end of Friday and to 1,000 by the end of Sunday.
It has now been one week since the derecho knocked out power to more than half of the city-owned utility’s customers.
Mayor Misty Buscher Thursday addressed a report that union-represented workers stayed home for the weekend:
“The union contracts do have Sunday and holiday hours negotiated in them, which some are 2 1/2 times (regular pay). We did have some employees who were on vacation when the storm hit, and we may have had some employees who had time off scheduled the Monday between (the weekend and Tuesday) the Fourth.”
