(CAPITOL CITY NOW/WAND TV) – Authorities are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains behind a Clinton campground on Christmas Eve.

The DeWitt County Coroner’s Office and Sheriff’s Office responded to a wooded area near Arrowhead Acres campground on Dec. 24, following a report of human remains. DeWitt County Coroner Randy J. Rice confirmed the findings, according to our news partners at WAND TV.

Efforts are ongoing to identify the individual and notify their family. The investigation remains active.
