Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The building boom in District 186 schools does not include land the school district owns along Koke Mill Road. Board president Micah Miller (pictured) said sooner or later, the district should use the land or move on.
“If there were just one or two properties, that would more than pay for the lease that we talk about every year,” said Miller, “so I am just going to say for the good of the record that it would be nice to have an actual plan of what we are going to do with this property or look at some kind of an exit strategy where we can find somebody who wants to utilize this property and put it back on the tax rolls for us to benefit from.”
Without Miller’s support, the board this week voted to renew the farm lease for the forty acres at $12,000 for the upcoming year.
