Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man and a woman from Mohawk, N.Y., were arrested after allegedly traveling to Springfield to kill the woman’s father, police said.
Emily E. Getman, 21, and Dylan A. Romer, 29, were taken into custody near Sangamon Avenue and Dirksen Parkway after police received a tip that the two were attempting to lure a man to that location.
Investigators said Getman’s father was the intended target. Officers recovered a shotgun from the suspects’ vehicle, along with items suggesting they had been living in the car for several days.
Getman was arrested on charges of attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, unlawful use of a weapon, and criminal damage to property. She was taken to a local hospital before being transported to the Sangamon County Jail.
Romer was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder. He was booked into the Sangamon County Jail and has since been released.
Springfield police said the investigation is ongoing.
