Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – UPDATE: Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon has identified the 35-year-old woman who was the victim of suspected hit-and-run late Saturday evening on Interstate 72 near the eastbound New Berlin exit. Maysa Davis, of New Berlin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary autopsy findings suggest she died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in a pedestrian vs car incident. The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.

3/23/25 – A 35-year-old woman was found dead near the eastbound exit of Interstate 72 near New Berlin late Saturday evening. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon stated in a media release that the New Berlin woman was a pedestrian. State police believe it was hit-and-run. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Authorities are withholding her identity until her next of kin have been notified. The Illinois State Police and the coroner’s office are actively investigating the case.
