Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon has released the identity of a woman involved in a suspected domestic violence incident on March 17. Karla A. Roberts was transported by EMS from her home in the 4000 block of Sandhill Rd. to HSHS St. John’s Hospital with a traumatic head injury. She was pronounced dead just before 11 a.m. The autopsy showed the 65-year-old died from blunt force injuries to the head, with the manner of death declared a homicide.
Christopher Roberts, 61, was pronounced dead at 1:45 p.m. the same day after jumping from a bridge on Peoria Road and Sherman Boulevard into the Sangamon River. His autopsy indicated the cause of death to be consistent with drowning.
