Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Some Republican members of the House held a Tuesday morning news conference in the Blue Room of the State Capitol.
They were speaking out against what they are calling ‘state agency mismanagement’ and their failing to protect Illinois most vulnerable citizens.
DHS, DCFS, HFS, the Secretary of States office and other agencies that provide services were in the crosshairs.
Governor Pritzker took some heat from Representative Brad Fritts. Fritts says at the Mabley Developmental Center in his Dixon district there are numerous cases of neglect and abuse of the mentally disabled residents. He called for more oversight and transparency of the states 7 mental health facilities and less time spent garnering attention for a possible presidential bid.
State Representative Patrick Sheehan is also an active police officer. He says he sees first-hand the devastating consequences of a poorly run child-care system. Sheehan want to see legislation that would require DCFS to make audio and video recordings of all child/worker interactions. He says this would lighten the load on workers and make the process more transparent.
State Representative Jeff Keicher demands more transparency and oversight but admits only 10% of super-minority Republican sponsored bills have passed out of committee.
