Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Mayor Misty Buscher is launching new communication initiatives designed to build stronger connections and ensure your voice is heard. As part of this effort, the City of Springfield is hosting a series of departmental Open Houses, and they want to make it as easy as possible for you to attend.

Thanks to a partnership with the Sangamon Mass Transit District (SMTD), free round-trip bus tokens are available to remove transportation as a barrier to participation.

How to get your tokens:

Visit one of the following locations with a valid photo ID:

Municipal Center East, 800 E. Monroe Street
Community Relations Office, 1450 Groth Street

These tokens can be used to attend any of the upcoming Open Houses:

May 3 – Springfield Fire Department Open House
May 22 – Public Works Open House
June 18 – Springfield Police Department (SPD) Open House
July 16 – City Water, Light & Power (CWLP) Open House

Each open house offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with City departments, ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about the work happening in your community.
