Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Another popular country music star has been added to the Illinois State Fair lineup.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture, which runs the State Fair, says Jake Owen will perform on Friday, August 8. That’s the second day of festivities, and “Agriculture Day” at the fair.

“Jake Owen brings the kind of feel-good, singalong energy that defines summer nights at the Illinois State Fair,” said Illinois State Fair Manager Rebecca Clark, in a news release. “We’re excited to welcome him to Springfield and give fairgoers another reason to celebrate with us this August.”

Owen was won a number of Country Music Association awards for his music, and he’s a gold- and platinum-selling recording artist, with one of his more popular songs being “Barefoot Blue Jean Night.” He’s said to be in the studio now working on two projects.

Owen isn’t the only country star on the bill for the fair this year. Megan Moroney and Brad Paisley will also perform. Other non-country artists range from Def Leppard to Snoop Dogg.

If music artists aren’t your taste, there’s also truck and tractor pulls, along with monster trucks on the first night.

The Illinois State Fair runs August 7-17. Tickets for Owen’s show will go on sale this Saturday.
