Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Police say they have a man in jail after he allegedly tried twice in the last week to rob a South Grand Avenue West credit union branch.

Police say they and U.S. Marshals arrested Anthony A. Perry, 49, Wednesday Evening on two warrants charging Aggravated Robbery.  Perry is in the Sangamon County Jail awaiting future court proceedings.

The first armed robbery attempt to the Land of Lincoln Credit Union branch happened late last Saturday morning.  Employees told police a man wearing dark clothing and sunglasses, armed with a weapon, entered the branch and demanded money.  He then fled on foot.

Then, Tuesday afternoon, investigators say fitting a similar description had a knife and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, despite what police called an extensive search, and with the help of surveillance video.

Officers say Perry was found Wednesday evening on South Pasfield St.
