A multi-department response in zero-degree temps and 12-mile winds to a house fire in Pana on Tuesday.

When Pana Fire was first on the scene to the 1230am call on Cherokee St. one person was still trapped inside the home.

Authorities report two major impediments in fighting the fire; The gas meter on the house had burned off, and the gas was feeding the fire. So, firefighters had to fight the fire until Ameren could dig up the service at the main and shut it down.

And because of where the home was located outside of the city, a water shuttle had to be used for water supply to fight the fire.

According to our news partners at WAND-TV firefighters removed a section of the outside wall and were able to pull a woman out, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Christian County Coroner identified the woman as 51-year-old Kristy L. Clutter of Pana.

The other two occupants of the home were both taken to Springfield hospitals.

Assisting were Tower Hill, Owaneco, Oconee and Assumption Fire Departments, Echo Response, Assumption Ambulance, Pana Police Department, Christian County Sheriff’s Department and the Christian County Coroner’s Office.
