SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Another arrest has been made by local law enforcement after a Springfield man was alleged to have child pornography in his cell phone.

According to the Sangamon County Sheriff’s Department, Ross Boner, 32, was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury on eight counts of Child Sexual Abuse Materials.  He was arrested that afternoon at his Springfield home.

Officials said the investigation started in August on reports of the sexual assault of an adult, with the victim identifying the suspect.  When the department obtained a search warrant for Boner’s phone, that’s when they say the materials were found.  Since then, they say, a second devices was seized and will be examined, the department said.  A second search warrant was obtained, and more alleged images were discovered.

Boner was listed as a registered sex offender because of a 2013 conviction of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child.  He is now in the Sangamon County Jail awaiting a first appearance in court.

Authorities say the charges range from Class X felonies to Class 2 felonies.
