Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – 24 “balance bicycles” along with safety helmets are being donated by engineering firm HDR to the students of Harvard Park Elementary so they can learn how to bike safely.

HDR works with ALL KIDS to find a good match for their efforts and kids who are in need.

Principal, Jim Hayes, said the gift of ‘biking’ is a fun gift now but will serve the students in many ways through their lives.

PE instructor, Trent Lovevcamp, will lead the kids in an 8-lesson course through the remainder of the school year. He says he is glad to be teaching the kids ‘safety first’ in their biking travels.

Mayor Misty Buscher was there on Tuesday morning to help the kids with their first biking lesson.
