The project works with undergraduate students at UIS, who receive training in evaluating potential wrongful-conviction cases and present their findings to the legal team. A wrongful-conviction course is also offered every semester at UIS.
The event is free and open to the public. Residents will have an opportunity to meet representatives from city agencies, learn about community resources and participate in activities for the entire family.
The designation recognizes hospitals that demonstrate outstanding patient care, nursing leadership and professional practice.
“It really started as a vision — a place for kids to come and learn about the game, hopefully fall in love with the game, learn about being a good teammate and how to win graciously and lose graciously,” Sowle said.
