SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – The Legislative Ethics Commission (LEC) has appointed David Risley as acting Legislative Inspector General.
Risley will begin in the role on Oct. 1.
He will take over after the commission accepted LIG Michael McCuskey’s resignation Sept. 30.
McCuskey’s resignation came after a summer scandal in the Illinois House and allegations of unprofessional workplace behavior.
He has also served as Legal and Ethics Advisor to the Office of the LIG and was an ethics officer for the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The Illinois General Assembly must confirm a permanent LIG, and Risley could serve in the role until the term ends on June 30, 2028.
