SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The owners of the Bus Stop, a downtown bar which closed before it could even open, are considering three locations for their new business, according to Springfield Business Journal executive editor Michelle Ownbey.

Ownbey said the business’ damage from the Aug. 27 water main break is estimated at $120,000. “They took the brunt of it. They had about five feet of water in the basement,” Ownbey told the WTAX Morning Newswatch. “I think a lot of people are surprised to learn that even though they had insurance, it’s not covered by this. (It had) something to do with because the water came from an outside source. It wasn’t a leak within their building that it’s not being covered “

Ownbey added, “Most of the businesses (affected by the water main break) are back up and running.”

The Bus Stop was to open at Fifth and Monroe Streets Aug. 28 – the day after the rupture.
