“I’ve always been passionate about America,” de Jong said. “I’ve seen American movies and I think that’s where Route 66 popped up, too. So, watching the movies, wanting to go to America and Route 66 is one of those real American things.”

Organizers are also offering additional attractions beyond golf, including food trucks, the Scheels Fan Zone and Family Fun Day on Saturday, which features a superhero theme for children and families.
A motorcycle and Jeep ride along Route 66 helps the United Way of Central Illinois.
