In his second major league season, the 24-year-old Chicago White Sox infielder struck out for the 224th time Friday.
The U.S. players — from world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler to 21-year-old rookie Jackson Koivun — passed the gold cup down the line, which was only fitting.
The 21-year-old Koivun looked quite comfortable in his Presidents Cup debut. More like a seasoned veteran than the youngest player on the U.S. team.
Scheffler stepped in and barked at the fan, “There’s no place for that!” And they played on.
“These people want to see golf,” he said Sunday.
The Wild Card Series begins Tuesday.
