WASHINGTON (WAND) – An effort to provide supplemental funding to Ukraine with a price tag of about $24 billion is running into some roadblocks.

Several Republican lawmakers have indicated they are opposed to providing the funding. While Democratic lawmakers are pointing to Ukraine stating if the war is lost in that nation the Russians may move to take over other smaller countries.

“It is in our best interests to stop Putin now in Ukraine. Because he has ambitions that reach far beyond the borders of that country,” said Sen. Dick Durbin, (D) Illinois. “If Ukraine falls Putin will certainly go further. To Poland, to the Baltic States and triggering an even wider war.”
