Chatham, IL (CAPITOL NEWS NOW) – One of six people injured and sent to the hospital after the crash in Chatham several weeks ago is now home, and received a hero’s welcome of sorts.

Residents were there to greet Livi Tuttle, 7, when she returned home from a Springfield hospital Friday afternoon. A GoFundMe set up for Tuttle says she suffered from a fractured pelvis, head injuries, and brain bleeds.

A vehicle went through a fence and through part of the YNOT after-school program building April 28, killing four and injuring six. The driver of the vehicle, Marianne Akers of Chatham, 44, has so far not been charged in connection with the crash. Illinois State Police say despite social media conjecture to the contrary, Akers is believed to have had a medical episode prior to the crash.

Almost immediately following the crash, numerous fundraising efforts for Tuttle, families of those who died, and others, began, so far raising tens of thousands of dollars. There were also several candlelight vigils and other shows of support, and the formation of “Chatham Strong.” Funeral services for the youths who lost their lives continue.
