Lincoln, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A man from Springfield is facing a number of charges after Illinois State Police say he caused a fatal accident near Lincoln early Thursday.
Troopers say the accident happened around 2:20 a.m. Thursday on Old Route 66 outside Lincoln. A vehicle driven by Sylvester Anderson, 47, somehow collided with a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old male from Bloomington.
Troopers say the Bloomington man was pronounced dead at the scene. Anderson, meanwhile, was taken to an undisclosed hospital for injuries he sustained.
Anderson was given citations including Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Driving with Expired License Plate, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, and Illegal Transportation of Open Alcohol.
It’s not clear what Anderson’s condition is.
