Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Here’s something you can do this weekend for free, that’s not normally free.

You can go out to Panther Creek and watch the Memorial Health Golf Championship.

Visit Springfield is helping make that happen, according to Amy Beadle on the WTAX Morning Newswatch.

“We love the fact that we can make the Memorial Health Championship accessible to everyone with that free admission,” said Beadle.  “Landmark Ford and Cadillac offer the free shuttle.  So, you can just go park over there…take that beautiful bus over, and get in the tournament for free.”

Seating is available at the 9th and 18th holes, or you can walk the course and follow your favorites, said Beadle.

Beadle says it’s more than just a golf tournament, not that a weekend watching golf is a bad thing.

“There’s family-friendly activities, there’s photo opportunities,” said Beadle.  “Even if you’re not a super huge golf fan, it is so worth going out and just experiencing.  To have that kind of high-level golf in our community that Kate (Peters, tournament director) and her team is just incredible. We’re very fortunate to have that here.”

The tournament is expected to have a more than $6 million in economic impact to Springfield.
